What?

In partnership with the Community Cooker Foundation, Nestle, One Chuom Youth Reform Group, and Mathare Community School (MCO), we ran a 2 month pilot. We repaired an existing Community Cooker at MCO school to provide breakfast and lunch for their 300 school children and to bake and sell fresh bread to the community.

Students of MCO school and 100 local families were encouraged to bring their daily domestic waste to school to fuel the Community Cooker.

The purpose of the pilot project was to get statistics and feedback on the business model. The aim was to create a sustainable solution for household waste, youth unemployment and food insecurity.
